With the seniors, many teachers and staff are moving on from Dominion as well, leaving from the English department to the counseling department, new opportunities are flowing their way as a new start and end to their career. With these losses they could impact the departments largely, not only teachers but as well as counselors that we have had for more than six years now.

Counselors are the starting point for so many students and three veterans will be leaving. Nicole Winfree and Sarah Bustard won’t be here next year which takes a toll on students and the counseling department. David Edwards the department chair for counseling will also be leaving with them.
Students form connections with their counselors and teachers, but they also do the same in return with their students. Winfree has been a counselor for six years here and has had to handle a lot of tasks especially this year. “I really love my students, they have driven me insane and have been a pain so many times but I genuinely love the students that attend Dominion high school. The only reason why I have been able to do this job for so long is because of the student body here,” Winfree said.

A lot of the teachers have challenging routes to Dominion everyday, by leaving they will have exciting opportunities ahead of them. The English department has the most teachers leaving this year and they will be missed. Ms Williams, Mrs Young, Ms Henderson, and Mrs Wilson are leaving. “Each student really is so special and unique, and it sounds cliche to say but they do make my day. Out of everyone I’m going to miss the students the most, and Ms Menickelly,” Williams said.
There is only one teacher leaving from the math and science department, and he is an assistant swim coach as well. However, it is undecided whether or not he will continue to be coaching swimming at Dominion. Patrick Cox went here as a student for four years and has been teaching here for four years watching this 2025 senior class grow up. “Getting to see this senior class grow throughout their four years, they came in as freshman my first year and just seeing a class all the way through has been really cool to see them become great people,” Cox said.

Additional teachers who are leaving teach different electives provided here at Dominion. Corey Burns who recently came back to Dominion after teaching Economics here from 2012-2022 will be leaving again. Shannon Pillera teaches Art and participates in the Life Program and will no longer be teaching with Dominion but will be moving to Robey. Ulrike Fianko, a personal finance and Econ teacher will also be leaving while Amy Young is retiring as an English teacher as well.
All of the teachers leaving next year in the business department are Ms Fianko, Mrs Young (Retiring), Mr Burns. Mrs Pillera the art teacher is leaving for Robey. Four of our English teachers are Ms Henderson, Mrs Young, Ms Williams, and Mrs Wilson. One science/math teacher is leaving, which is Mr Cox.
