In your interview, you spoke of a plan to improve pep rallies that “will be revealed next year” to get the crowd involved. Since you are now president, are you willing to reveal your plan?
I think I’m going to do some research and find some new chants. We’ll get a new chant and new games because we keep reusing the old games. And I want the sign-ups to be more visibly available to everyone because I feel like a lot of people don’t see them and don’t know how to sign up for games. And we have the same people in the games every single time. That way, we’ll have more people involved in those rallies. And definitely games with bigger amounts of people. That way, more people can get involved.
You mentioned wanting the revival of D Block in your speech; how do you plan on accomplishing that?
I feel like we don’t promote our football games enough. I think there should be more incentives to go to games. More tailgates, better themes, and I really want to make a huge culture around going to different sporting events and getting out there.
Do you have any specific plans on how to incentivize people to go to these events?
No, but I’ll think about it more.
Do you attend Dominion events?
I go to all tons of games. I love going. I went to Homecoming this year. I wasn’t able to make it to prom. I have gone to Titan Theater events in the past, and I actually do enjoy them. I also want [more students] to, again, just go to more events, because going to more events brings more money for our school. We don’t do a great job of advertising, and I talked to students, and they said oftentimes they don’t even know some events are going on. We don’t do a good enough job letting everyone know events are going on [and] games that are going on.
Are there any significant changes you’d like to implement in SCA as president?
No, I think we ran like a well oiled machine this year. I think we did a good job. Nothing significant. No huge significant changes. Ant did a great job which I want to continue doing equally or better a good job.
Are there any new events that you’re planning?
Yeah, 100%. I know we didn’t have much turnout for Deck the Halls, but it was the first year we did it in a while, and a lot of people didn’t know about it. I love these types of events, and I love doing them. I think it raises school spirit. [We] will definitely be doing more of that next year too.
