Multicultural Night took place in Dominion’s Cafeteria on April 15th at 6:30 pm. The event included tables with students representing many different cultures such as East Asian, Persian, Jewish, and representing many countries such as India, Italy, Egypt, and Palestine.
Exchange students from the countries Columbia, England, and France also hosted tables and participated in the festivities. These tables included a poster board explaining traditions, the flag of said culture or country, small treats from that area, and many representatives wore customary clothes from their cultures.
Adwoa Ankomah-Asiedu, who is Dominion’s Community in Schools Advisor said, “It’s really hard to talk to somebody that’s different from you, so I believe that events like these break down the barriers between people.”
The exchange students taught participants dances from their countries, such as the Columbian exchange students teaching attendees how to dance to salsa music.
Co-president of the Persian Student Union, Kiarash Banakhojaste said,“I think students should attend so they are able to learn about the different cultures present at school and in the community”. Many different clubs that participated included, Hindu Yuva, Asian Student Association, and the Jewish Student Union.
“It is a great celebration, everyone had a good time, and I’m really excited for how it will go next year with more people, more celebrations, and more love.”, said Ankomah-Asiedu.
