What classes do you teach at Dominion?
I teach French 1,2 and AP, and I also support in Earth Science as an EL teacher.
How long have you been teaching?
I’ve been a teacher now since 2007.
What schools did you teach at previously?
I taught elementary school for years here in Loudoun County, then I also taught in a school in Germany, in an international school.
What did you do before you became a teacher?
Before teaching I was working at a leasing office for apartments.
What made you want to become a teacher?
I wanted to be a French teacher originally, and so I was excited about that, but I got my EL endorsement and then I just kind of fell into being an EL teacher for elementary. I just loved how the kids just loved learning.
How has your first year at Dominion gone?
It’s been great, yes the students in my classes are amazing. I was really a little nervous about my AP classes because I hadn’t taught French in a long long time. The staff are all welcoming as well.
What problems have you faced in your first year teaching here?
None, just the technology and staying on top of it.
What has been your favorite part of being a Titan?
Just I love how the students that I know all get along. There is a really good bond in this school so I’m glad to be a part of that.
What is your favorite thing to do outside of school?
I have two dogs and I love taking them for walks, and just being outside with them. I also love gardening and cooking, so those are the things I love to do.
What are your plans this summer?
I’m planning on traveling, so I am going to France because my brother lives there. I used to have family there. And then I’m going to travel all across Europe, like Croatia, Germany, and England. So a lot of traveling for about a month, maybe more.
Is there anything else I should know about?
Just that I’m really happy that I’m here and just that I can be part of the lives of students that are getting ready to go out into the world.
