What was your reaction to being named next year’s President?
“I was very happy. I was in class and then Dr. Brewer said I was re-elected SCA President; I was pretty content that my speech was well received.”
How long have you been in SCA? What roles in SCA have you served in previous years?
“This will be my third year in SCA, but my second year as President. My freshman year, I was just a member of SCA and my sophomore year I ran for President. I won it, now I will be President again my junior year.”
What have you done with your leadership position this year? Specifically what changes did you make.
“Like I said in my speech, one of the biggest things we were forced to do is an advisory pep rally, and after a lot of discussion with Dr. Brewer he’s agreed that we do not have to do it again because we can tell the student body did not like doing it.”
This year what do you plan to bring as the SCA President?
“More fun pep rallies, I have more opportunity to be able to bring better spirit days. I have a new cabinet of officers since they all graduated and] we have new ideas. We are also looking for more events outside of Chick-fil-A and Chipotle, like pasta nights.”
How do you plan to improve Dominion’s spirit?
“I want to lead by example and go all out on these spirit days and encourage my friends too. I want to be the change.”
Will there be spirit-based incentives?
“Two years ago, we had a spirit week competition, an interclass competition for the spring pep rally and I would love to bring that back and have an even bigger motive than just bragging rights for the winning class. We might possibly bring Homecoming hallways back; I have a lot of meetings with Dr. Brewer to discuss these things and make it happen.”
What are you most excited about serving as President?
“I am excited to have another black slate to work with and have a redo year. I feel like the pep rallies this year were a bit underwhelming so I think I can redeem myself.”
If there is anything you can tell the student body, what would you tell them?
“Get ready for another year!”
