Dear Coach Bob,
With it being teacher appreciation week, I thought it would be perfect to thank my favorite coach. Throughout the past three years, you have taught me so much on and off the field hockey field. I refined my stick skills, but also grew as a person too. You taught me how to persevere when times get tough and how to lead a team. Without you cheering from the sidelines, none of our team’s accomplishments would have been possible. You motivate myself and my teammates on and off the field with your corny jokes and inspirational speeches. I will say some of your speeches, arguably, rival Herb Brooks’ speech in “Miracle”.
I looked forward to every practice and game because I got to spend 2 straight hours with my favorite coach and dad. Those two hours I have never taken for granted, because it was a privilege to spend that much time with your dad, something most high schoolers don’t get.
I can’t imagine running a business, being a dad, and coaching a high school field hockey team at the same time, but you managed to do that and more! I am forever grateful for the three years you spent as my coach and the 18 as my dad.
I will miss Dominion Field Hockey and Coach Bob so much!
Love, Callie
