Pelosi Announces Impeachment Inquiry of Trump

On Tuesday, September 24th, Pelosi announced that there was going to be an impeachment inquiry, meaning that the President’s actions in a phone call to the Ukranian President was going to be investigated and then the House of Representatives and the Senate are going to vote on if the President should be impeached, or not. The phone call in question was allegedly to the Ukranian President in which Trump wanted dirt on Joe Biden’s son, in exchange for foreign aid.

What the Ukraine Transcript Could Mean 

On Wednesday, September 25th, the White House released a rough transcript of the President’s call with the Ukranian President. The Washington Post breaks down the rough transcript and comes up with some takeaways.

Greta Thunberg Nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize 

Greta Thunberg, the 16 year-old climate change activist, was nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize, which would mean that she is the youngest person to be nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. On Wednesday, September 25th, Thunberg was also named one of the 2019 recipients of the Right Livelihood Award, known as the “Alternate Nobel Prize”.

Greta Thunberg Talks at the U.N. Climate Summit

After traveling to the U.S. from Sweden, she spoke at the United Nations Climate Action Summit where she spoke to world leaders about the failure to address the problem of climate change. In an impassioned speech she said to the world leaders, “People are suffering. People are dying and dying ecosystems are collapsing. We are in the beginning of a mass extinction, and all you can talk about is the money and fairy tales of eternal economic growth”.
