“Dominion High School staff and students are testing the Phoenix Hall Pass system. We will test this system for the rest of the year and will not use Securely Pass (formerly “eHallPass”) for the rest of the 2025-2026 school year,” Instructional Technology Facilitator Catlin Cordova said.
This change was brought on because Loudoun County Public Schools already pays for Phoenix (also known as StudentVue, and ParentVue), while Securely Pass was an added expense. “We were paying extra for Securely Pass, so they felt like that’s the best financial decision,” Pass Coordinator Ashley Gilomen said.
Gilomen said, “Dominion was chosen as a test school because we were one of the first adopters of Secully Pass.”
The new system will make it easier to get early dismissal. “When a parent does an early dismissal for instance in parent view it automatically allows our attendance secretary to click a button, and it generates a pass for students to be able to leave for the early dismissal,” Gilomen said.
Gilomen explained that Dominion will start by making sure passes to the bathroom, library, and the clinic work first and then will work on passes to individual teachers.
The pass system will make passes easier for early release due to athletic reason. “[If] Ms.Churchill Clendenin our athletic secretary needs to do an early dismissal for those students like everybody has to go to the bus at 4 o’clock. She’s going to be able to just click a couple of buttons and it’s gonna send out a pass to all of those students,” said Gilomen
“Students can now create and view passes from StudentVUE. Teachers can now create and view passes from their seating chart. If a student is out on a pass, there is a timer overlaid on their picture to show time remaining in the pass,” Cordova said.
