Adam Thomas leads the Titans in their quest for a district title.

The boys basketball program has seen many new faces this season, with new head coach Anthony Eifler to PVI transfer Adam Thomas. Both Thomas and his team have high hopes for his first season here at Dominion.

Thomas previously played at Paul VI and transferred to Dominion during the beginning of basketball tryouts. “I decided to come to Dominion mainly because I felt that it would be a good fit and opportunity for me,” Thomas said. “I’m adjusting pretty well and I’m enjoying it a lot.”

Thomas also joins his brother, Josh, at Dominion, “I enjoy going to the same school as my brother because it’s fun being around him,” Thomas said.

There’s always questions about how transfers will fit into the team’s culture, and for Thomas “He fit pretty seamlessly into our team culture and I think that the rest of the guys have welcomed him quickly,” Eifler said.

Thomas is coming from an extremely successful program. Paul VI was ranked ninth nationally last season and won their fourth state championship in program history (MaxPreps). “Playing basketball there was overall something I can look back on and be thankful I had that kind of opportunity and was able to play for such a great program,” Thomas said.

Thomas’s energy is what caught the eye of Coach Eifler, “I think the first thing that popped into mind when I saw him play was how hard he plays. His level of effort and energy is contagious and his teammates are starting to catch on.”

“Adam gets after it everyday, he is very athletic, and can play every position, and he always has the mindset of going hard,” senior Michael Discher said.

“He’s used to an uptempo system that you have to be able to defend 94 feet if you want to get on the court. That mentality is tough to teach, so having a player like him that is accustomed to it has been beneficial,” Eifler said.

I am driven to do whatever it takes to win as a team,” said Thomas. Thomas hopes to see his team compete for a state championship, “We are capable of doing so, we just have to work hard and bring our best effort every day.”

“So far, every indication is that Adam fits in with our group of returning guys and that he will be a significant contributor to our success as a team,” Eifler said.

Thomas plays AAU and this past summer played for New World. He hopes to extend his basketball career into college, and receive a D1 scholarship.
