The 2018-2019 winter sports season is here! Here is what to expect from every team this season.

Boys Basketball

Overall record from last season: 8-14-0

Key players for this upcoming season: Senior Michael Discher and junior Max Mancuso

Key upcoming games: Tuesday, November 27th against arch rival Potomac Falls

Expectations for this season: “I think we have the talent to compete for a conference title and/or regional berth. I’m looking forward to seeing this team grow over the course of the year,” said Eifler.

Girls Basketball

Overall record from last season: 5-22-0

Key players for this upcoming season: Junior Maddie Beal, sophomore Jessi Montgomery and junior Paige Fleckner

Key upcoming games: Tuesday, November 27th against Potomac Falls and December 19th against Loudoun County High School

Expectations for this season: Coach Smith hopes to see his program “Lead the district in defensive statistics,  increase our offensive output and beat Loudoun County” which would be a program first.

Winter Track

Key runners for this upcoming season: Omar Aougab, Nick Vandenheede, Camille Hall, Mya Brock, Abby Low, Gina Wilson 

Key upcoming meets: January 12th at Dominion High School

Expectations for this season: For the boys team Coach Wesoky hopes to carry over the success of last season. “On the girls side, we bring back almost all of our top performers and have added some great athletes so our expectations are that the girls team will again compete for a top spot in the district,” Wesoky said.

Wrestling

Key players for this upcoming season: Jack Creamer, Alex TerHaar, and Diego Pena

Key upcoming matches:  December 6th against Mt. Vernon at Dominion High School

Expectations for this season:  Carry their success into this season and ultimately win districts.

Gymnastics

Key players for this upcoming season: Sophomore Megan Shamp

Key upcoming meets: Gymnastics will host their first home meet on January 7th: “It’s been almost 10 years since DHS has had a home meet,” Frontain said.

Expectations for this season: Coach Frontain hopes to send more gymnasts to regionals this year.

Swim

Key Players for this upcoming season:  Andrew Blusiewicz, Ashley Bogushefsky, Rachel Schlemmer, and Kelli McMillian

Key upcoming meets: Friday, November 30th at Ida lee Park Recreation Center
