The school store has held an outdated look for a very long time and has negatively affected the feel for student shoppers and marketing students working in the school store. “I don’t think it’s [the school store] necessarily the best lab environment to show real world retail experience for our students,” said Marketing Teacher and School Store President Brianna Eifler.
Planning out the remake of the school store has been in the process for a couple months with a CTE representative, Eifler, and even the students in the marketing class. This gives the students an opinion on the store in which they would be working in, as well as having a view that would match what students would like from a school store. “For a few months now, [we have been] planning out every single thing. Colors on the wall, types of floor, the specific fixtures, down to the style of cups we’re gonna have, and it has been a pretty detailed process,” Said Eifler.
Junior and School Store Associate Mallika Gandhi participated in the planning of the school store remake and said that, “We’ve talked to a couple of people from admin and they’ve told us a budget we have and their vision for our store. So they really want to make it a very cozy environment that more people are attracted to, we’ve been wanting to add more food options, so we’re adding a second section to our store called Titans Corner Cafe where we’ll be selling things to add to coffee, things to add to soda, pastries and those sort of things.”
The school store’s remake is predicted to be done much sooner than thought and won’t disrupt any students or classes. “Our target date unofficially is spring break [to start] working on our construction. There’s a lot of things that can’t happen while students are in the building, because it would disrupt the learning environment too much. So, they can work during break and we should be able to open up before the end of the year,” said Eifler.
