Kimberly Fogelson has been teaching for 37 years and is switching careers for the pursuit of life, liberty, vacation, and cookies!
Fogelson has had many memorable moments during teaching and has touched the hearts of not only her students but her colleagues.. “[She would] bake cookies and everytime she brought cookies it would make me crazy!” Luis Rivera, one of the world language teachers commented.
Fortunately, this is not the end of Ms. Fogelson’s cookies. She has started her own cookie business, called Educator Bakers. “[When asking how to make cookies] most people would say it’s not their thing, but Ms. Fogelson came over and said ‘I would love to learn how to do that too!’ and then she really enjoyed it and that [became our] hobby.” said Catherine Edgington, Dominion German teacher and co-founder of Educator Bakers.
“I’ve loved [teaching], professionally it’s definitely been the most rewarding place that I’ve worked at,” Fogelson said. Fogelson has helped the world language department significantly and her effort does not go unnoticed.
When asked about her most memorable moments while teaching, “My trips that I did escorting students to Spain. I did that several times over the years, [students in my class] were offered a travel, cultural, and educational field trip. A little different than the exchange program.” Fogelson said.
“Keep learning, whatever your passion is go on and learn it or find one if you haven’t. And be kind, go out in the world and be kind because I think we need that,” Fogelson said regarding her message to her students.
