LCPS School Board Approves 2023-24 Student Calendar
The LCPS School Board recently approved the student calendar for next year.
As students prepare for the largest break of the school year, LCPS Administrators have been hard at work preparing next year’s calendar. Three calendar options were proposed to the public back in October, the results have been reviewed, and a new calendar has been approved for the 2023-2024 school year.
Similar to previous years, the 2023-2024 school year will start during the last second-to-last week of August, but will have a shorter winter break and later end date than the current school year and most years in the past.
Here are the key dates for the 2023-2024 school year:
First Day of School: August 24, 2023
End of 1st Quarter: October 27, 2023
Thanksgiving Break: November 22 – November 26, 2023
Winter Break: December 21, 2023 – January 1, 2024
End of 2nd Quarter: January 19, 2024
Spring Break: March 23 – March 31, 2024
End of 3rd Quarter: April 4, 2024
Last Day of School: June 14, 2024
Similar to years in the past, the calendar does not include a day off for Veterans’ Day, but does give students the day off for Labor Day, Indigenous Peoples’ Day, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Presidents’ Day, and Memorial Day.
The calendar also includes many days off throughout the year for teacher work days and holidays such as Yom Kippur, Diwali, Lunar New Year, and Eid al Fitr.
