Watch volleyball try to continue their early season winning ways.

Why: The varsity team is off to a great 4-1 start as they go into a key home stretch later this week. The match home against Heritage on Thursday which is expected to be a very competitive game. Coach Phuong Tat says, “A win would be great, but we try to focus on applying what we’ve worked on in practice and making sure every match is fun and competitive.” 

Who To Look For: With only six players on the court, Breanna Patterson, a sophomore on the team, says, “Our key players are our setters Lauren May and Casey Stapleton.”  Tat emphasizes the libero and defensive specialists on the team Charlotte Cotrell, Ava Smith, and Melissa Smith and said, “One of our best qualities on the team is our depth chart.”

Season Recap: The team has gone 4-1 already in the season and looks forward to continuing the streak this week. Three of their next four matches are at home and have drawn a larger crowd than usual, thanks in part to students getting in for free.

Why Students Should Go: Patterson states that students should attend this week’s match because, “Volleyball is super fun to watch!” Given the huge turnout at previous games, Tat hopes for another full D-Block and support from families and friends. This month is also Special Events week for Dominion Volleyball and includes LYV Night on 9/17 versus Independence and Military and First Responder Night on 9/26 against Broad Run and is a great event for both the team and fans!
