Trump is expected sign to spending bill to avert government shutdown, but declares national emergency for wall funding

President Trump is expected to sign the spending bill passed by congress to avert another government shutdown. The bill that was passed provides $1.375 billion for 55 miles of new barriers on the southern border with Mexico. This falls short of the $5.7 billion that President Trump wanted for 234 miles of steel walls. President Trump declared a national emergency to secure an additional $6.5 billion for wall funding. This declaration is expected to challenged vigorously by the Democratic Party in the legal system

 

Rapper 21 Savage released from ICE detention center

Prominent rapper 21 Savage, who was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement last week was released from an immigration detention center in Georgia on Wednesday. 21 Savage, whose real name is Shayaa Bin Abraham-Joseph is a British Citizen was brought over to the United States when he was seven. ICE said that the rapper overstayed his visa which expired in 2006. The rapper will face a tough legal battle regarding whether or not he remains in the country.

Former governor of Massachusetts will challenge President Trump in GOP primary

The former governor of Massachusetts William Weld will challenge President Trump during the GOP primary for the republican nomination. He ran on the libertarian ticket in 2016 with the former governor of New Mexico Gary Johnson. He resigned in 1997 as governor during his second term after he was nominated to become the ambassador to Mexico. He will face an uphill battle against Trump. President Trump has a 89% approval rating among republicans.
