Dwayne Peters, formerly on athletic staff at Heritage High School in Newport News,  will officially start his position as Athletic Director on March 26th while students are on Spring Break. Students will then be able to see him in his office, and inevitably ask him about bus and gym schedules, starting April 2nd. Peters will meet with Dr. Brewer next week to go over details and prepare for the new position.

“I’m going to help [Peters] understand our school’s history, and I’m going to help him understand the priorities of our school and our athletic department,” Brewer said.

The longest tenured member of the Dominion Faculty, Mr. Fleming will retire effective March 1st. This means Peters will oversee the end of the spring season as well as the long awaited installation of the turf field, currently scheduled to be begin in late May/early June.

Peters does not plan to implement any new policies and wants to be an observer for a while as he learns the ins-and-outs of Dominion High School, but will make adjustments where necessary. “I’m the type of person that wants to observe for a while. I won’t make any drastic changes but obviously if something needs a change I will [make changes],” Peters said.
