On March 1, 2018, the only athletic director Dominion High School has ever known will not be in the building. After being a part of Dominion for every single day it has been opened, Joe Fleming will be retiring on February 28th.

“I really wanted to spend more time with my family. There are a lot of late nights so a lot of nights [my wife] is by herself and I want to be fair to her,” Mr. Fleming said.

Just announced yesterday, Dwayne Peters from Heritage High School in Newport News will be the new AD on March 26th.

“As [one of] the longest-tenured staff member at Dominion High School, Mr. Fleming lives the values upon which Titan Territory has been built. He’s a man of deep respect for all, impeccable character, pursuing excellence with the heart of a servant leader. He personifies what it means to be ‘Truly Titan,’” Dr. Brewer said.

“[Working with Mr. Fleming] has been one of the best professional experiences that I have had. It has been a real pleasure working with [him] as a teacher, as a coach, and as his assistant, and I am certainly going to miss him.” Assistant AD Mrs. Gasser said.

“This is a great school and all of you kids that open doors for others, are kind, and anytime I have ever asked anyone to help out with anything you have always dropped things and assisted. I could not be more proud of you guys, and I cannot have enough positive things to say about what you guys have built here,” Mr. Fleming said.

Mr. Fleming has been a valued part of the Titan experience and will be dearly missed.
