New Media Center Lunch Pass Policy

New Media Center Lunch Pass Policy

This year students are required to have a pass in order to use the media center during lunch.  Linda Brothers, library media assistant, said the new rule was implemented because “last year [the media center] became an area for kids to socialize so it took away from the students that were in Titan Time that were trying to work and study.  It became very disruptive because we had so many kids in here.”  Now, students must “come in before school, between blocks, or before their lunch period” to get a pass.

In addition to that, the media center, and the rest of the school, is an “out of sight, out of sound” zone meaning that cellphones cannot be seen or heard.  With regards to these new rules, Brothers said the learning environment in the media center is “much, much better” and students “understand” and follow the policies.
