Fantasy Football Notebook Week 9: Who to Start, Sit, and Pick up

Who is Will Fuller and why is he averaging 1.75 touchdowns a game? Is Deshaun Watson the real deal? How is Brandin Cooks ranked as the 3rd best fantasy WR. Your questions about breakout players, who to start/sit, and who to pick up all answered. Point system based on non-ppr ESPN point system.

Must Start: Deshaun Watson against the Colts. He’s the real deal. He was putting up big numbers early on against mediocre defenses like New England, Kansas City, and Cleveland. This past week, Watson played Seattle, and he. went. off. 32.8 fantasy points against a very strong Seattle defense on the road having to play through the noise of the Seattle “12th man”. This week they head to Indianapolis to take on a very weak Colts team who has allowed the 2nd most passing yards this season. Look for point totals in the high 20’s.

Will Fuller V against the Colts. He missed the first 3 games this season and since coming back, he’s averaging 17.7 points a game and 1.75 touchdowns a game. The Colts are not good, like I said earlier, the Colts have given up the 2nd most receiving yards this season and with Fuller’s red zone presence he can definitely see his numbers spike back up in the high teens or even twenty’s.

Lesean McCoy against the Jets. Shady has found his stride. The Bill’s feature back has put up 20+ in his last two games and is heading to New York to take on a weak Jets run defense. The Jets have allowed the 5th most rushing yards this season and with how good the Bills are playing, if they go up on Jets, Shady’s touches will spike and his point total will go up.

Sit: Devonta Freeman against the Panthers. The Panthers have allowed the 6th least amount of rushing yards this season and have only allowed 3 rushing TD’s. Freeman who is only averaging 7.6 points in his last 3 games and hasn’t had a touchdown in those games. Do not expect a big day from Freeman, or even a mediocre day for the struggling back.

Andy Dalton against the Jaguars. Pick a new QB up off the waiver wire this week. The Jaguars have allowed the least amount of yards this season and the least amount of pass TDs this season (only 4). If that’s not enough to convince you then here’s one more stat, they are ranked top 4 in interceptions this season. Dalton since finding his stride in week 3, he is averaging 17.4 points a game but on the road in Jacksonville, look for a very poor performance from Dalton.

Jay Ajayi against the Broncos. New team equals new play book. The old lead back in Miami will have to split carries for a couple weeks while learning the new offense. Not only that, the Broncos have allowed the least amount of rushing yards this season and not a single rushing TD. The back will not see a point total this week above 7, especially with Blount in charge of goal line situations.

Waiver-wire pickups: Jared Goff only owned in 31.2% of ESPN leagues, Goff is a great replacement QB for a QB with a tough match-up or an injury. He is averaging 15 points a game and is the 15 best ranked QB. It also doesn’t hurt him that he is in charge of a top 5 scoring offense in LA.

Paul Richardson only owned in 29.9% of leagues, ranked as the 11th best WR in the point totals, Richardson is averaging 9.6 points per game as a WR in Seattle. Last week putting up 22.5 points last week against the Texans with two TD’s, his point total should look to stay in double digits.

Alex Collins, running back on the Ravens, owned in 57.6% of leagues. He is the lead back in Baltimore since out snapping all other backs in Baltimore. 113 yards in week 8 and double digit carries in his last 4 games, Collins is a solid running back option that has potential to put up double digit point totals consistently in the future.
