College Football Week 8 Recap: Tech and JMU Continue to Dominate

Virginia Tech (6-1) – The Hokies came out blazing off of the bye week, beating North Carolina 59-17. Quarterback Josh Jackson threw for 132 yards and three touchdowns, while the Hokies also had a defensive, special teams, and rushing touchdown. The defense held the Tar Heels to 172 yards, while forcing three turnovers. The Hokies look to keep playing well as they host Duke (4-4), at 7:20 PM ET on ACC Network.

Maryland (3-4) – Maryland traveled to Madison, Wisconsin, and got blown out by the unbeaten Badgers 38-13. Max Bortenschlager had a tough day, completing only 13 of his 30 pass attempts. He also threw an interception and a touchdown. The strong suit of the Terps offense, the run game, was held in check, as they only rushed for 143 yards on 35 attempts. The Terps look to bounce back as they host Indiana (3-4) at 3:30 PM ET on Big Ten Network.

Virginia (5-2) – The Cavaliers came out flat against Boston College, and fell 41-10. Quarterback Kurt Benkert completed 17 of his 33 passes for 126 yards, while throwing a pick. The running game was held to only 95 yards on 26 attempts, averaging less than 4 yards per carry. Virginia looks to bounce back as they travel to Pittsburgh (3-5). Game time is set for 12:30 PM ET on CHSS.

James Madison (7-0) – The Dukes extended their win streak to 19 games Saturday, routing William and Mary 48-14. Quarterback Bryan Schor threw for 186 yards and a touchdown, but also threw two interceptions. Marcus Marshall ran for 64 yards on 11 carries and scored two touchdowns. JMU looks to run their streak to 20 when they host New Hampshire (5-2) at 3:30 PM ET on MASN.
