Fantasy Football Talk: Who to Start, Who to Sit, and Who to Pick Up

The Bills are 3-1, the Giants are 0-4, the Rams are 3-1! Craziness after week 4 came in hard and has once again has shown who are official busst and who you must pick up off the waiver wire. Point system based on non-ppr basic ESPN point system.

Must Start Week 5: Le’veon Bell against the Jaguars. I know, I know, I name Bell a lot. But why wouldn’t you start him! Against the Jaguars defense that has given up the most rushing yards per game so far this season and coming off a 30-point game in week 4, Bell will be sure to get a heavy workload and put up big numbers.

Deshaun Watson against the Chiefs. Even though the Chiefs are 4-0 they have given up the 6th most passing yards this season. Even Kirk Cousins put up 20 points against the Chiefs! No but seriously, Watson is the 7th best ranked quarterback AND he only played part of week 1. In his past two starts he has put up 20.1 points and 33.7. Look for his point total to go north of 17 on Sunday night, especially that Chiefs will probably go up early which will force the Texans to throw the ball.

DeVante Parker against the Titans. Parker came into this season as WR2 for the Dolphins behind Jarvis Landry, but has emerged as the favorite target of Jay Cutler. The Titans pass defense is not good at all, allowing a league high 8 touchdown passes to wide-outs. Parker averaging 9.7 points has a great chance this week to bring a point total much greater than that.

Sit Week 5: Marshawn Lynch against the Ravens. Lynch is struggling. There’s no other way to say it. A struggling Oakland O-line is affecting “Beast Modes” yard numbers as he is only averaging 38 yards per game. Including in the past two weeks where he is only averaging 15 yards per game. The injury of Derek Carr forces E.J. Manuel into the starting role, which means Baltimore will force the Raiders to throw it by targeting the run game.

LeGarrette Blount against the Cardinals. Even though Blount had 136 yards on the ground last week and put up 15.6 fantasy points against the Chargers, the Cardinals are a much different animal. The Cardinals haven’t had a 100-yard rusher against them in over a year. Why would the shaky Eagles run game change that? The Eagles have the 10th most passing yards this season and are relying heavily on it, and it’s working as they are 3-1. Since it’s been working for the Eagles this season, I see no reason why they try to whip out the run game on Sunday.

Charles Clay against Cincinnati. Cincinnati’s run defense is in the bottom half of teams in yards allowed this season, the Bills will be mainly looking to pound the run game. Not only that, but Cincinnati has allowed the 3rd-least amount of passing yards to Tight-Ends all season (96 yards). The emerging Bills tight-end ranked 4th out of all TE’s, will finally meet his match so far this season.

Waiver-Wire Pickups: Deshaun Watson is a star in the making. Ranked 7th out of all QB’s and ranked 3rd since week 2 (Only played part of week 1). If you are one of the unfortunate fantasy owners that owns Derek Carr or Marcus Mariota, like me, Deshaun Watson is a great pick up against the Chiefs in week 5.

Greg Zuerlein, wait what a kicker, why? I’ll tell you why, 27 points last week, ranked 1st out of all kickers, and is averaging 16.3 points per game. I don’t know what else to say. If he is still available in your league, Pick. Him. Up.

Devin Funchess, available in over 50% of leagues, last week put up 19 points against the Patriots and is becoming heavily targeted by Newton. With Greg Olson out his numbers and targets have jumped averaging 5 targets for 65 yards per game in the last 3 weeks. Ranked 16th out of all wide outs, Funchess will become a more key part of the Panthers offense and will see his numbers spike up quickly.
