NFL Thanksgiving Day Picks

Every true football fan knows that this Thursday is the best day of the season to watch football. Non-stop food, football, more food, and more football, and the games are normally good if not significant to the season.

Vikings vs Lions 12:30 pm CBS

The Vikings and the Lions, the two top teams in the NFC North, are in the midst of a pretty heated battle for first place now and we should be in store for a great one early Thursday. The Vikings were in the middle of a four game losing streak until last Sunday where they beat the Cardinals in a must-win. Their defense and special teams have been the heart and soul of their team, always making game changing plays and seem to be scoring more than their offense in some games. The Lions are getting their season on track and have been led by Matt Stafford, who has shown through clutch play, and consistent accuracy that he should be taken seriously as a quarterback in the NFL. I think the Vikings’ offense will do just enough and the defense will force some turnovers off of Stafford to get the win.

Vikings win 28-21

Redskins vs Cowboys 4:30 pm FOX

Two red-hot teams in a huge rivalry/divisional game are facing off Thursday afternoon. The Cowboys have found their new starting quarterback in Dak Prescott, and it’s more the offensive group as a whole that has dominated teams throughout the first 10 weeks. The Redskins, after a sluggish start have also caught fire, and even though their defense has a lot of holes, the quarterback play has been phenomenal and they should be looking to sign Kirk Cousins to a long term deal this off-season. I think the Cowboys, although have been unbeatable all season, will slow down Thursday, and the Redskins will continue to roll.

Steelers vs Colts 8:30 pm NBC

The one non-traditional Thanksgiving day game is in Indianapolis, with two teams fighting for playoff spots and two teams that have not played very much defense this year. The Steelers defense is still one of if not the best in the league, and the Colts can’t be that far behind them either. They like to throw a lot and the quarterback play in this game will be great. Thursday’s game will come down to which defense can make enough big plays, or stops to support these high powered offenses.
