What to Do This Halloween Season
Algonkian Park’s Haunted Forest always succeeds in raising a few scares. The tale behind the Haunted Forest is that a third-rate circus clown turned teacher used to watch children walking to school and torture animals. After getting fired, 13 students mysteriously went missing, only for their bones to be discovered a few years later on Halloween night. Experience the haunting for yourself every Friday-Saturday until October 31 from 7-11 for $18. Click here for more information.
Visit Northern VA’s real haunted house, Paxton Manor, at Shocktober Fest in Leesburg. Visit the home place of Jedidiah Carver, a man convicted of animal husbandry, who was banished from Leesburg and he moved to the caverns beneath Paxton Manor. Tickets are on sale for $30 Friday-Sunday from 7-10. Click here to learn more.
FYI- if you’re a fan of Fright Night or the Madhaunter’s Madhouse, both are not operating this year, but both expect to be up next year.
If you’re not up for a scare, there are still plenty of options. Temple Hall Farms offers the biggest, at 24-acres, corn maize in Northern Virginia and the entire East Coast. This year’s theme is the wild, wild West. After you finish the corn maize, the fun still continues with Temple Farms others activities during their Fall Festival. Cow trains, pumpkin blasters, corn cannons, a human spider web, paint ball- even camel rides (for an extra charge). Tickets sold for Daytime activities Friday from 4-6 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am- 6pm ($14). Tickets for Nighttime activities (corn maize, jumping pillow, blast zone, and spider web) are sold for $10 on Friday and Saturday from 6-10 pm. Click here for more on Temple Farms.
