Dominion’s new weight room was under construction for almost a year; it started around late February right after the end of winter sports. The original hope for the completion was before the start of this school year, though throughout the construction it was looking to take longer, the date was then pushed back to the start of winter athletics.
Once again, this deadline was also not able to be met on time, however the construction was finished at the end of January and the equipment was being moved in at the start of February.
Athletics has also undergone construction of new press boxes for the baseball and softball fields. This construction started after the spring sports season, around the middle of June. The press boxes will not be finished for this spring sports season, but will be ready for future seasons to come. The construction of the press boxes will not affect the baseball or softball teams’ games and for now they are figuring out a work around to still cover the games without the press boxes.
Athletic Director Darrell Wilson was out for the last couple weeks, in that time Brad Bauder stepped in as the substitute Athletic Director. Brad Bauder stepped in around the middle of December and left when the first semester wrapped up. During his time as the athletic director Brad Bauder said he was there to help make sure everything ran smoothly and to support Assistant Athletic Director Gasser.
Brad Bauder said this about his time as the athletic director, “It’s been a lot of fun. It’s great to be a part of it. It’s great to see all the athletes and how they work outside the school, which I don’t always get to see as a teacher.”
Although sometimes delayed; Athletics have been improving their facilities with new upgrades to help the players grow and improve, and continue to keep upgrading itself and giving us things to look forward to like new press boxes being built.
