Students were greeted with the surprise of the personal device policy at the start of the school year and allegedly it is going to change January 1, however, there is no evidence to back that up.
However, on December 9th, LCPS recently posted a survey on social media regarding the personal device policy. Dan Adams, Public Information Officer said, “It will give everyone the opportunity to express any improvements that they suggest, or clear up any confusion that may need clarification from the policy.”
The deciding factor is ultimately going to be the survey and how LCPS decides to interpret that information. “Ultimately, we’ll take that information along with what comes out of the [Virginia Department of Education (VDOE)], and down the line we will make changes to the policy,” Dan Adams said.
Two things are for certain, no changes to the policy are without a doubt confirmed to be taking place and the policy is not going away. LCPS schools must be in line with Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin’s executive order 33 calling for cell phone-free education in all schools in Virginia.
