Last season the team went 2-21, with wins against Meadow View and Rock Ridge. They had a play-in game against Heritage where they lost by 8 points. This season, former JV coach Ryan Williams has moved up to head coach for varsity, replacing Anthony Eifler who stepped down during the season last year.
Williams will have to make some adjustments this year, with losing Shane MacMillan and Graham Deaton. “Shane McMillan, [was a] first team all district center [and] kind of did it all for varsity last year. He was a huge loss,” Williams said. Both players had instrumental roles on varsity last season and Coach Williams looks toward the junior class to fill those gaps.
“The [junior] class is super deep and a lot of them can step up any given night,” Williams said.
A different player set to make an impact is Sherveen Afsoos, a senior transfer from Riverside. “He will have a big role for us this year,” Williams said.
A key returner is guard Jakob Jude Salgado, a four year varsity starter, who missed the majority of last season with an injury. “Getting him back healthy is gonna be the heart and soul of our team,” Williams said. Along with the entire senior class, returning guard Jake Feigenbaum will be a key player this season.
Dominion has had an up and down start to the season with the highs being two victories in two nights at the Raising Cane’s Tip Off Tournament at Justice.
