Titan Theatre had an amazing opening night for their first production this school year, “Clue”, which demonstrated the attention to detail and effort that went into crafting this masterpiece. The farce-meets-murder mystery had a run time of roughly 90 minutes, packed with twists and turns, while having humorous moments that made the audience roar with laughter.
After a change in leadership, the new director Dana Maier chose “Clue” as her first production as theater director, “It’s so well known as a concept, just the idea of ‘Clue’, and it’s interesting and intriguing,” Maier said.
Opening night holds a different meaning for everyone after months of hard work; Wadsworth the Butler, played by three year theater member Eli Quinones said, “[opening night is] where you make or break your audience for the rest of the show.”
The play takes place on a stormy night when six individuals, Miss Scarlet (Kiki Riggle), Mrs. Peacock (Mia Schaefer), Mrs. White (Avery Bunker), Colonel Mustard (Spencer Craig), Professor Plum (Ian Lambert), and Mr. Green (Clark Maier), who are involved in different scandals, are blackmailed into attending a meeting at Boddy Manor. They are all served by Wadsworth the Butler (Eli Quinones), who directs the group throughout the mansion. Dinner is served and the group learns more about each other before finally confronting their host and the man who blackmailed them, Mr. Boddy (Callie Banks).
The confrontation takes an unexpected turn when the lights cut out and Mr. Boddy is found dead on the floor. The unlikely team find themselves working together in order to figure out who the elusive killer is, as more murders are discovered in the dark mansion.
While the show crew’s efficiency makes it look easy, “[the] set was very complicated because we have to establish so many rooms in this house, each room has to be distinct,” Maier said. This was a challenge because of the limited space on the auditorium stage. Regardless of this difficulty, each room was spacious and sold the illusion of Boddy Manor during the show.
The show continues on November 21st and 22nd at 7:00 pm and November 23rd at 2:00 pm. Tickets can all be bought ahead of time on their website at $5 for students, $10 for senior citizens, and $15 for everyone else. Make sure to check out this phenomenal show before the curtains close!
