Recently Loudoun County Public School’s Security Staff and representatives from every school, including Leesburg Police, and the Sheriff’s Office voted on the best high school security team in Loudoun County. Dr. John Brewer announced on August 16th that Dominion’s security team had been awarded this prestigious award.
Kevin West, the In-School Restriction and Activities and Building Use Coordinator works closely with Timothy Macbeth, Ariel McKinney, and DeAndre Kelly. “I knew it was well deserved because we truly have the best school security in LCPS,” West said.
During this special time, the security staff has liked the sense of pride this award has brought. “It’s very exciting and humbling. I’m very proud of our staff and how we work as a team,” Head of Security Timothy Macbeth said.
Student relationships with the team come from the honesty and truth they display, their guidance leads to students making right decisions. “They are honest with the students even when the truth is hard to hear, but they deliver it in a way that helps students understand and accept it,” West said.
“Security gives us positive feedback in order to make smart decisions and choices throughout the year,” junior Eleni Liatsos said.
West added, “I truly believe we have the best security team in all of LCPS. They are tough, yet fair.”
The factors that come firsthand in our school consist routinely of muscle memory acts such as, “on-time drill competition, access control, audit controls, and alerts for propped doors,” Mr. West listed.
Most importantly, Mr. Macbeth said, “I hope this sends a very positive message to the student and staff base that we take this seriously.” The security guards hope to show how safe they make the school’s environment.
“These students are like my kids, I hope to protect this school like a family,” Macbeth said.
