Students can earn volunteer hours at nearby Cascades Library in a variety of ways.

Cascades Library

The Cascades branch hosts the After Hours Teen Center from 6 to 9 pm every Friday night which is unique to only this branch in Loudoun County. The After Hours Teen Center organizes games, crafts and serves pizza, but according to teen Librarian Adrieana Kang, it’s biggest program is volunteer opportunities. According to Head of the teen department Angela Marchetto, there are a variety of things High school volunteers can do at the library that include a weekly one hour commitment of shelving books (after having done training), assisting preparations for programs, and decorating the library. Volunteer opportunities also include, for half an hour of community service: writing reviews for books they’ve read or one of the Library’s programs they’ve attended.
