Fantasy Football Talk: Week 10
Week 9 had lots in store including the Patriots falling to Lamar Jackson and company, the Dolphins winning a game, and the Bills having the second best record in the AFC. Week 10 is right around the corner so let’s jump right into it. All point totals are done in the basic ESPN PPR point format.
Must Start:
Jameis Winston- Quarterback- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: He has played pretty well in the past two weeks as he posted 19.3 and 20.2 fantasy points and now finds himself with a great matchup against the Cardinals. The Cardinals are the most friendly defense to opposing QBs as they allow 26.3 FPPG to the position. Winston will have a great opportunity to continue his hot streak.
David Montgomery- Running Back- Chicago Bears: Montgomery has been fantastic lately after posting 24.7 and 22.6 fantasy points in his last two outings. He is really starting to gain a feature back role and has a super favorable matchup against the Lions. The Detroit run defense is just horrible and has allowed the most FPPG to opposing RBs (32.9). Montgomery should get fed early and often (especially with Trubisky’s struggles) and can have another monster day.
Marquis (Hollywood) Brown- Wide Receiver- Baltimore Ravens: The rookie speedster finds himself in a fantastic situation. The Ravens have such a great run offense that teams key in on it and it opens up so much room for Hollywood to work. The Ravens play the Bengals who have allowed the third most FPPG to opposing WRs. His chances for a home run ball are extremely high.
Do Not Start:
Kirk Cousins- Quarterback- Minnesota Vikings: He may be the ninth ranked QB right now and completely turned around his slow start, but you cannot start him this week. Dallas has been fantastic against opposing QBs this year only allowing 14.1 FPPG to the position. Cousins will be on the road in a big game and in big games Cousins rarely shows up.
Devonta Freeman- Running Back- Atlanta Falcons: Freeman has picked it up since the slow start to his season but this week has a truly very difficult matchup against the Saints. The Saints run defense has been spectacular this year as they have allowed the fourth lowest FPPG to opposing RBs. Freeman doesn’t offer much volume in the passing game either so it will be hard for him to make it up in reception points.
Juju Smith-Schuster- Wide Receiver- Pittsburgh Steelers: Juju might have the label of greatest disappointment for this fantasy season so far. I truly do feel for you if you are one of the people who drafted him. Anyways, it doesn’t get much better for Juju this week. Coming off a 4.6 point performance last week he matches up against Jalen Ramsey this week. I really can’t see him being successful against such an elite CB after the season he has had so far. There are definitely some better streams out there.
Waiver Wire Pickups:
Devante Parker- Wide Receiver- Miami Dolphins: He has gone over double digit fantasy points in all five of his last five games and is the clear WR1 in Miami. Preston Williams is out for the season as well so Parker’s volume will only increase. The Dolphins will often find themselves losing which will lead to a lot of passing for the Dolphins. Parker is only owned in 34% of ESPN leagues.
Zach Pascal- Wide Receiver- Indianapolis Colts: T.Y. Hilton could remain sidelined for another few weeks with a calf injury which leaves Pascal in a WR1 role. He thrived in the role last week posting 5/76/1 and will hold the WR1 role until Hilton’s return. He is only owned in 27.8% of fantasy leagues.
Hunter Renfrow- Wide Receiver- Oakland Raiders: The rookie is really starting to gain Derek Carr’s trust. In his last two games he has posted a combined 10/142/2. Renfrow is a borderline FLEX play as of now but has a ton of potential and is only owned in 6% of ESPN leagues.
