Former U.S. President George H.W. Bush passes

The 41st president of the United States and the father of the 43rd president passed away on November 30th. George H.W Bush was the last veteran of World War II to serve as president. In 2012, Bush announced that he was diagnosed with vascular Parkinsonism that would severely limit his mobility and eventually lead to the cause of his death.

 

Government shutdown delayed

A two week budget extension was passed this week. This avoids a possible government shutdown. The extension was put in place partially because of the funeral activities for former U.S. president George H.W. Bush.

 

Democrats gain control of 40 seats in the house.

Republican David Valadao concedes to Democrat TJ Cox in the race for control of California’s 21st district. The democrats now have a net gain of 40 seats in the House of Representatives.
