The Titan cheerleaders hope a new coach can equal a top finish in competitions.

Every new school year at Dominion welcomes change. This year, change has come to our cheerleading team.

For the past few years, the varsity cheerleading squad has been coached by the highly regarded Ms. Curry. However, over the summer she took the change to seek opportunities elsewhere, leaving to coach at Briar Woods.

Coach Rogers has stepped up to the plate to lead our Dominion girls further towards a state cheerleading title.

“I have been very involved in competitive cheer.  While in high school, my team competed competitively and while coaching my Pop-Warner team in Orlando we went to several competitions and placed 2nd or 1st place,” Rogers said,

With the backing of Coach Roger’s experience on the competition level, she plans on bringing some new, refreshed ideas to give the varsity girls a new spin.

“As far as competition-wise… I feel that this year we are bringing something fresh and new to our routine.  We have some current music that will bring energy to the crowd and get everyone pumped up,” Rogers said.

Along with keeping up on the competition side of things, Rogers has taken a new angle on the cheerleader’s involvement at Dominion football games.

“When it comes to something new… I feel that I have brought forth school spirit!  We have created a “Push-Up Board” that not only is a great way to show our athletic ability but to get the crowd fired up when we make a touchdown.”

Although the cheerleading season has only begun, Coach Rogers has already been setting goals for the squad that she expects to accomplish this season.

“Oh, of course the obvious is to win!  I really see us going all the way to states this year.  If we can remain focused and keep the dedication up, than this I feel is obtainable.  I have a saying that I like to say to them… ‘Winners Train – Losers Complain.’ ”

With preliminary cheer competitions up and coming, Rogers has put her squad in into full-drive.

“Our first competition is going to be the LCPS Cheerleading Championship on October 9th at Champe High School.  We had to make some changes because of unforeseen circumstances.  We have had to adapt and adjust.  We take each day at a time and prepare the best we can,” Rogers said.

Come out and support our varsity cheerleading squad at their upcoming competition:  October 23rd 7:00p.m. @ Park View Highschool.
