Jack Creamer: DHS Press Male Athlete of the Year
Jack Creamer was named the DHS Press Athlete of the Year for his impressive wrestling season.
Jack Creamer was selected as DHS Press Male 2017-2018 Athlete of the Year for a multitude of reasons. Firstly, this year Jack Creamer finished with a record of 39-1 during the regular season. He topped it off in the post season and was State Champion as a sophomore. Creamer said, “It was such a rush. I felt like all the weight on my shoulders was lifted.”
Great athletes have something that drives their work ethic and desire for success. Jack is no different and Jack’s drive comes from his Mom. Creamer said, “My role model is and always will be my Mom, because of how hard she fought to beat cancer. I just want to keep working hard to be as strong as she was.”
Jack’s motivation has fueled his work ethic. Jack started wrestling since he was in 5th grade, and even though the wrestling season doesn’t start until next winter he is already practicing 3-4 times per week. Wrestling Head Coach Mr. Young said, “Jack works harder than everyone else on the team throughout the year. His goal was to be a state champ and he did it.”
Jack has also been a great leader for the team this year. “Jack leads with his technique, his work ethic, and his intensity. He can get fired up when he needs to and the rest of the team can learn from him,” Young said.
Jack’s hard work ethic and leadership really paid off this year. When describing why being a State Champion was special to him Creamer said, “It is something that nobody can ever take away from you, and something that shows how much harder I worked than everyone else.”
Some other honorable mentions for DHS Press’s 2017-2018 athlete of the year were Isaiah Webster, Trey Hayes, George Richardson, and Dylan Weber. We congratulate Jack on this year’s performance and will be rooting for his success in the future.
