Mr. Haberman to Speak at 2018 Graduation

Mr. Haberman to Speak at 2018 Graduation

Once a year, the senior class at Dominion votes on a speaker for their graduation. It is Dominion’s tradition that the most beloved teacher is elected to speak each year. After previously speaking at the 2012 graduation, the senior class welcomes in Mr. Joe Haberman to give his words of wisdom.

Mr. Haberman taught Biology for 16 years (the last 10 at DHS), and he has been teaching Psychology (at DHS) for 8 years. This year, he took on the role of the sole psychology teacher due to the spiked interest of the subject in the last couple of years. Many credit this spike to Mr. Haberman’s teaching style.

“I really enjoy what I get to teach, but also I have high expectations as to what [students] can achieve academically,” Mr. Haberman said.

One of the reasons the psychology teacher was voted to speak was due to the impact he had on the class of 2018 as a whole, and with individual students.

“I have different relationships with this year’s seniors. Some of what I’m going to talk about has been inspired by our time together, just enjoying having you guys in class and what we did,” Haberman said.

Speakers often look to inspire the graduates along with their family and friends on stage on graduation day, but Mr. Haberman looks to go deeper this year with the class of 2018.

“This is the last time in my life I will give an address like this and this is the last time you all will be graduating, so I want to make it special,” Haberman said.
