Athlete of the Week: Joe Fleming
This week marks the last week of our Athletic Director, Joe Fleming. After working at Dominion since the opening of the school, Mr. Fleming is ending his successful career as the Athletic Director.
A tearful interview left Mr. Fleming retelling his most memorable moments at Dominion, including working with special needs kids as he said, “athlete to athlete”. Having multiple state championships, both team and individual, made his career incredibly significant. He also reminisced about working with students from troubled backgrounds and watching how they changed and evolved and grew into a better athlete and most importantly, a better person.
Looking back on his time at Dominion Mr. Fleming said, “It was the best job anyone could ask for, it was part of the community, getting to know all of the Titans, and getting to know all of the Titans’ ability to take the shell of a building and make it into a community, a family.”
His last words to his Titans will leave a powerful imprint on the students and staff, “Keep the way you’re going, keep the family.” After all, the thing he said he was going to miss the most were the Titans.
