Steelers-Jaguars Preview: Our Experts Predictions

Steelers-Jaguars Preview: Our Experts Predictions

Jaguars vs Steelers, Sunday at 1:05 on CBS.

Ian’s Take:

The Jaguars beat the Steelers 30-9 in week 5! No, do not let this fool you, the Jaguars offense is so bad they will not able to generate enough points to outscore the Steelers in the end. I can’t see a guy who had more rushing yards than passing yards and only led his team to 10 points being able to handle Pittsburgh. The Steelers have gone 10-1 over their last 11 and are heading into the playoffs red hot. The Jaguars defense is very good, don’t get me wrong, but the Steelers offense is so good with so many weapons. In 6 of their last 7 games, the Steelers have put up 24 or more points. This Steelers offense combined with the horrific offense of the Jaguars will be too much for the Jaguars to handle.

Steelers 20-17 Jaguars.

Wyatt’s Take:

Another compelling matchup to start the pair of Sunday’s games, with a lot of build up going into this one. Earlier this week Steelers’ safety Mike Mitchell was discussing a possible playoff game against the Patriots, despite having a game against the Jaguars this weekend. The Steelers have played much better since their first matchup against the Jaguars, but that game should not be completely put aside. The Jaguars defense completely confused Ben Roethlisberger, who threw five picks in that week five contest. The health of Steelers wideout Antonio Brown is a big thing to look at, if he is not at 100% I see the Jaguars winning this one. Assuming he is, I still see the Jaguars coming out on top because of how good that defense is playing, and if Blake Bortles manages the game and doesn’t turn it over, they’ll move on to New England next week.

Jaguars 17-15 Steelers

Riley’s Take:

This game has probably gotten the most hype all week, and rightfully so. The Jaguars blew out the Steelers in week 5, at Heinz, 30-9, forcing Ben Roethlisberger to throw 5 interceptions. Antonio Brown looks healthy and ready to go, which paves the way for a marquee matchup with Jags cornerback Jalen Ramsey. The Jags have the best pass defense in football, and the Steelers will have to give running back Le’Veon Bell a heavy dose to keep them at bay. On the other side, Jags quarterback Blake Bortles is the worst quarterback left in the playoffs, and for the Jags to put up points on the Steelers above average defense, will need Leonard Fournette to go off.

Steelers 24-13 Jaguars

Varun’s Take:

This game has the potential to be one of the best games purely because of the matchups. On the outside, Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye have had great seasons, but they’ll go up against the best receiver in the NFL right now in Antonio Brown. LeVeon Bell has been great as a receiver and a running back, but will he be able to get open and get yardage against a speedy linebacking core including Myles Jack and Telvin Smith? Can this Pittsburgh offensive line hold up against a terrifying Jacksonville defensive line? If they can, this game shouldn’t be too hard, as the Jaguars are no offensive powerhouse. I think there’s too much talent on this Steelers team to lose to a Jaguars team that just does not have an answer at the quarterback position.

Steelers 20-10
