Fantasy Football Talk: Playoff Edition

Finally, after a long hard 13 weeks, it is playoff time! New waiver wire pickups and who to start/sit to get your team pushed over the edge into the finals. All point totals are done in non-ppr basic ESPN scoring system.

Must Start: Marshawn Lynch against the Chiefs. The Chiefs have allowed the 3rd most rushing yards this season and the 3rd most rushing TDs this season. They have also allowed the 12th-most RB fantasy points over the past month. Lynch coming off a big week totaling over 100 yards and one TD. Lynch with a realistic chance of 20+ touches this week could look to have a big week.

Josh McCown against the Broncos. Yes, it is a little risky, but McCown has showed to become a top fantasy QB option this season. The Broncos have allowed the 5th most fantasy points to QB since week 9 and also have a league highest TD rate to QB this season. McCown has averaged 21.2 fantasy points since week 6 and is ranked as the 7th best QB in point totals.

Matthew Stafford against the Buccaneers. The Buccaneers are allowing the 2nd most yards per passing attempt and 19 passing TDs allowed this season. The Buccaneers have allowed the 4th highest completion percentage this season. Stafford with a very favorable matchup could look to have an extremely high point total this week.

Sit: Ben Roethlisberger against the Ravens. The Ravens have only allowed a crazy low number of fantasy points to QBs over the past 7 weeks (only 7.6). The Ravens have allowed the second lowest amount of passing TDs this season and third lowest amount of passing yards this season. Roethlisberger on a hot streak right now will have a major point hit this week against a very strong Ravens defense.

Doug Baldwin against the Jaguars. The Jaguars pass defense has allowed a league low in passing yards and in passing TDs this season. Baldwin against the only two teams in the top 10 for passing yards allowed this season only put up 3.7 points and 10 points (only totaled 6 touches in both games combined). Look for Baldwin to be a huge bust this week.

Adrian Peterson against the Titans. The Titans are ranked third in rushing yards allowed this season and are tied for 2nd in lowest rushing TDs allowed this season. The Titans haven’t even allowed a run over 22 yards this season. Even with the extremely heavy workload that Peterson has been receiving, his fantasy point total has the potential to be extremely low.

Waiver-wire Pickups: Josh McCown. QB on the Jets. I have been saying it for weeks now. Pick. Him Up. Owned in only 42% of leagues. He is averaging 21 points per game since week 6 and is overall ranked as the 7th best QB in point totals this year. He is definitely worth a roster spot, especially heading into the playoffs.

Kenny Stills. WR on the Dolphins. He is ranked as the 15th best WR in point totals this season and is only owned in 48% of leagues. He leads the Dolphins in routes ran, yards, and TDs over the past three games. He is averaging 14 points in that three-game span and is emerging as a top WR.

Mike Davis. RB on the Seahawks. The Seahawks finally showed their trust in a single RB last week. Davis had 16 carries and 4 catches for a total of 101 yards. Although a non-favorable matchup for Davis this week, look for Davis to start putting up consistent fantasy point totals has he looks to be the answer for the time being in the Seattle back field.
