A well-known club at Dominion High School, the Latin Dance Team, has disbanded this school year. The 12-year dance program at Dominion which performed at pep rallies, half times, and dance competitions will not dance during this school year.

The breakup of the Latin Dance Team is quite the shock. “It’s actually due to a lack of interest,” said Latin Dance Team sponsor, Mr. Ulloa. “I sent out invites during the summer but got no responses.”

Carlos Justo, a senior on the team said, “I was aware, but I was not aware when it was happening or what time they tried to do the try outs.”

Justo stated he wasn’t surprised about the termination of dance team by saying, “The guys in charge thought that we weren’t trying or working as hard, so he thought it was not worth it to waste his time and instead focus on other things. He has every right to and made a correct decision, but some people that worked hard should be given the chance to dance.”

Mr. Ulloa said, “If they want to restart again they will have to show interest and find a sponsor that will be willing to stay after school.” He followed up with, “It’s possible to get our sponsors back but I need to really know if these kids will commit themselves.”

“It leaves me sad because we are really well known, we have the school support and Dr. Brewer support,” said Mr. Ulloa.
