Week 2 of the football season left us with a lot of surprises and a lot of early season busts. Relax, the season is still early, not every pro bowler who got under 5 points this week is a bust, and with that said, not every waiver wire player with 15 points randomly is going to be a star. You have got to look more in-depth. The point totals mentioned below are based on normal and non-ppr scoring in ESPN leagues.

Must Start Week 3: Le’veon Bell against the Bears. This will be a field day for a 20+ carry back who will run wild through a weak Bears defensive line. The Steelers should be up on the Bears all game which will mean the Steelers will run the ball a lot more near the end of the game to try to run out the clock.

Jason Witten against the Cardinals is solid choice for a starting tight-end. The starting TE on the Cowboys already has 24 points in two games and is getting heavily targeted by Dak Prescott. Against Denver’s “no fly zone” he was able to total 15.7 points and with Arizona’s Patrick Peterson focused on Dez Bryant and Tyrann Mathieu focused on deep threats from Dallas wide receivers, should open low level targets for Witten against an average Arizona line backing core.

Cam Newton against New Orleans is a great match up for “Super Cam”. The worst defense in the NFL allowed Tom Brady to pick apart their defense last week and put up 30 fantasy points and the week before that allowed Sam Bradford 25.5 points. Even though Cam has only put up 13 points and 11 points in week 1 and 2, look for him to break out this week against the Saints defense who has allowed the most passing yards so far this season.

Sit Week 3: Demarco Murray against the Seahawks maybe the biggest mismatch for Murray all season. Murray only has 8.8 points in two games and is struggling in the Titans offense and is not getting nearly the amount of touches he was expected. In a game against probably the best defense in all of football, the Titans will most likely be trailing which will mean the run game will not be very existent for the Titans.

Alshon Jeffery against the Giants star studded secondary. Most likely going to be covered by Janoris Jenkins, he will have a hard time trying to get free and get targets from Carson Wentz along with all the other Philly wideouts.

Waiver-Wire Pickups: Tarik Cohen is a solid running back on the bears who is splitting time with Jordan Howard. He is being used as more of an recieving option but has totaled 22 points two games. With Jordan Howard questionable and being used sparingly by the Bears, Tarik Cohen will continue to put up consistent numbers.

Trevor Siemian, quarterback for the Broncos, put up 22.7 points in week 1 and 22.6 in week 2, he probably won’t be able to keep these numbers consistent throughout the full season but is definitely worth a pick up, especially as a solid backup who can put up 15 or more consistently.

J.J. Nelson and Nelson Agholor are both solid wide-receiver pickups that can be used to fill in for injuries or for a needed flex position. J.J. has put up 28 points through 2 weeks and seems to be a favorite target of Carson Palmer, and with David Johnson out, the passing game will become even more existent for the Cardinals. Agholor has 22 points in 2 weeks and is being used as a big play factor for the Eagles. Two touchdowns for Agholor already this season is the main reason for his point spike. Keep an eye on him to keep receiving touchdowns and making big plays for the Eagles offense.
