Senior Goodbye: Zainab Mahdi
My four years at Dominion have been so unpredictable but full of happiness. I could never have predicted what I achieved, the experiences I had, and the friends I made. From the first day of freshman year when my schedule was a mess and the only elective I could possibly take was newspaper, thus began a series of happy accidents. I ended up loving newspaper and I am so glad I wrote for DHS Press throughout my time in high school. My time in school has taught me to take chances and always try new things, you never know where you will end up.
Over my four years, I am so thankful for all of the awesome experiences I have had. I initially wanted to take French, but I’ve stuck with Spanish for the past six years and now I want to minor in it in college. From starting a ragtag Odyssey of the Mind team to randomly joining the track team sophomore year to making amazing new friends every year, my time at Dominion has been anything but forgettable.
One of the best parts of my high school career has definitely been community service. It is great that the Titan community puts such an emphasis on selflessness and serving others. Volunteering at the community center and library, tutoring other students, and having an internship with local nonprofit Environment Virginia – the hours I have put into helping others have helped me in such a huge way.
As I move on to college in Washington, D.C., Dominion will not only be located close to me, but I will always keep it close to my heart. A heartfelt thank you to all of my teachers, friends, and family!
