Titans Head to Disney
This year the Fine Arts department, which are Band, Choir, Orchestra and Visual arts, left for a Disney World field trip from May 25th through the 29th. The trip is optional and the Fine Arts department goes on this trip every four years and this year 191 students will be attending.
The purpose of the trip is for the students to get an outside experience in Fine Arts and to have the students become closer and have fun! According to Ms. Nguyen, students who are not enrolled into any Fine Art department are not allowed to go on the Disney World trip. The information for the trip was distributed in class and also had a meeting on April 25th for parents and students. In the meeting they discussed the itinerary, rules, expectations and forms. There were fundraisers to help the students pay but students are still expected to pay.
Ms. Nguyen says, “We will leave Thursday night, take the bus overnight, and then we’re at Disney World Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Sometime within that time we’ll do our workshops and then we’ll also have time in the parks, then we’ll return Sunday night and arrive on Monday morning.”
Each department breaks off and goes to their workshops which Ms. Nguyen, “For the Art workshops, I’ve never been on one but, it’s called fundamentals of photo storytelling so you’ll have a Disney artist that shows you around and helps you work on your photography skills. For the choir one, we will learn a Disney piece and they teach it to us, then they record it and then they set it to an animated scene, and I think the instrumental one is similar.”
