Restaurant Review: Chuy’s
One of the newer restaurants in the Sterling area that restauranteurs are raving about is “Chuy’s,” which specializes in tex-mex dining options.
Upon first walking through the doors, you’re greeted by multiple hosts, a number of whom are students at Dominion. You’re given the option of sitting inside or on the spacious outdoor patio, with all seating being optimal due to the spacious facility.
As is usually expected at Mexican restaurants, you are immediately supplied with an abundance of tortilla chips and salsa. Something that sets “Chuy’s” apart, however, is the complimentary salsa tour that you are given—a platter full of all their different salsa options.
The menu itself is pretty standard—burritos, tacos, quesadillas—with a popular dish being the steak burritos. The food is served promptly, hot and fresh, so there’s not an hour-long wait for a meal that will only last thirty minutes.
“Chuy’s” is also great at handling dietary restrictions and needs. Being lactose intolerant myself, and dining in a party that included someone who can’t eat gluten, it was surprising how easily the servers were able to meet my needs. The meals didn’t need to be changed significantly, the server wasn’t confused about our needs, and it didn’t take an abnormal amount of time for us to place our orders. When the food arrived, the meals were dairy and gluten free as needed without us having to send our plates back.
The prices are excellent as well. The food is delicious and well-made, but the average price per meal is probably around $15. For high school students, it’s a great place to grab a meal with friends without breaking the bank.
Overall the restaurant is excellent—close-by, affordable, delicious, and friendly. If you’re looking for a new restaurant to visit with your friends or family, definitely give it a shot.
