  • James Comey’s fired from the position of FBI Director:

James Comey, former FBI investigator, was fired last week by President Trump on May 9, 2017. The firing occurred while Comey was investigating into President Trump’s advisers conspiring with the Russian government to help sway the results of the 2016 Presidential Election, as stated by the New York Times. After the controversy of President Donald Trump winning the 2016 election and the start of the investigation, James Comey was soon fired from his position. President Trump stated that the reasoning behind the sudden firing was due to “Mr. Comey’s handling of the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s use of a private email server,” as stated by The New York Times.

  • Ransomware:

Ransomware is a virus that is spreading through multiple companies and personal servers, corrupting files with a price. The hackers in charge of the malware demand $300 to restore the device at risk. Individuals whose devices are infected by such a virus are expected to pay a fee in order to have the hack eliminated from their devices.  According to BBC News, Ransomware is “a computer malware that has spread across 150 countries appears to be slowing down, with few reports of fresh attacks globally on Monday.” The malware is an issue that According the White House, less than $70,000 has been paid to have the virus removed since the blocking of files has begun throughout the world.

  • The Capital’s Loss:

The Washington Capitals lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in a 0-2 score on May 10, 2017. Fan’s across the Washington D.C. area were immensely saddened by the loss of the team. According to The Washington Post, “turn out the lights. Pull the covers over your face. Curl up into a ball. Sob if you must,” emphasizing the sadness that is seen across the DMV.
