School Board Convenes Tonight for Special Session on Brewer

Last Monday’s closed-door School Board meeting about Dr. Brewer’s fate ended in disappointing fashion for those who wish to see Dominion’s long-serving principal return to his post. After a nearly four-hour deliberation, the Board ultimately decided to postpone casting a verdict on Brewer’s case, and stated they would reconvene tonight.

The postponement on making a decision regarding Brewer’s fate caused much anxiety among Brewer’s crowd of ardent supporters. “We are standing by,” reads the ‘Support Brewer’ Twitter account, run by parents supportive of the embattled principal’s cause. Compounding Brewer supporters’ anxiety is that last week’s regularly scheduled 2nd-Tuesday School Board public forum and meeting was rescheduled for tomorrow, March 21st.

In a manner similar to last week’s shut-door meeting, the public and news media is not allowed inside the Board’s confidential deliberation room tonight. However, unlike last week—where the only individuals waiting outside the school board’s normal meeting room were a scant few members of the local media—the Support Brewer crowd is planning to stake out the Board members. “There are no speaking opportunities tonight,” the Support Dr. Brewer Facebook page reads, “just a silent vigil in support of Dr. Brewer’s return to Dominion.”

Brewer’s supporters plan to meet just prior to 5:30 p.m. in the main school board meeting hall at the School Board central office. If you wish to join them, the Board’s building is located at 21000 Education Court, Ashburn, VA. The leaders of Brewer’s support group plan to post updates about the vigil and Brewer’s case to Twitter and Facebook.
