Titans Spread the Love at School Board Meeting

The fourth School Board meeting since the Bring Back Brewer movement began didn’t disappoint; 86 speakers, all of whom but a handful were there to speak on Brewer’s behalf, spent their Valentine’s evening professing love for the longtime Dominion principal.

Brewer’s supporters at the meeting wore red, and handed out cookies and lollipops in the holiday spirit, but the meeting’s tone was anything but jovial. Supporters, frustrated with the length of the investigation into Brewer, highlighted how disruptive Brewer’s absence had been within the school community. The angriest attendees even suggested that Dr. Williams himself should be under investigation for what they charged as a personal vendetta against Dominion’s biggest cheerleader.

Perhaps the most notable speech, however, came from Rachel Brewer—Mrs. Dr. Brewer herself. Mrs. Brewer, a first grade teacher within the county school system, implied that she and her husband regretted nothing about their tenure with LCPS and only wished to continue serving the county as best they could.

Currently, Dr. Brewer’s closed-door hearing is scheduled for February 22nd and 23rd. An independent hearing officer will then deliver a recommendation to the School Board as to whether they should accept, modify, or reject the Superintendent’s recommendation to terminate. From there, the school board will vote—and, if they choose to overturn the Superintendent’s verdict, Dr. Brewer will return to his beloved home.
