NFL Divisional Playoff Picks
NFL Divisional Playoffs
The Wild Card weekend was quite boring, all of the teams that were favored one and one by double digits:
-Texans won against a Raiders team depleted with injuries
-Seahawks were too much for the Lions
-The Packers and Steelers looked dominant in their wins knocking off the Dolphins and Giants
Now here is the slate of games with some really good matchups that should be more competitive than last weekend.
Saturday
Seahawks vs Falcons 4:35 pm FOX
The Seahawks played Saturday night and really were in control of the game throughout against the Lions. Now Saturday they are faced with a tough task against one of the hottest, yet most underrated divisional winners in the playoffs. The Falcons, led by Matt Ryan, have the highest scoring offense in the league, and have stars and depth at all positions. The Seahawks always tend to change the way they play during the playoffs especially with their defense. I think with the combination of the Falcons elite offense and a defense that ranks 4th in the league in turnovers will lead the Falcons to a close win.
Falcons win 27-24
Texans vs Patriots 8:15 pm CBS
The Texans vs Patriots in Foxborough, New England should bring little excitement to this weekend’s slate of games. The Patriots are the clear favorite to win the AFC and go to the Super Bowl while the Texans are coming off beating a very injured Raiders team against a quarterback who had never started an NFL game. The Patriots also have one of the best defenses to go along with their great quarterback play, a defense that has allowed the fewest points this season. The Patriots should be able to jump out to an early lead, with weapons like Julian Edelman at wide receiver and Martellus Bennett at tight end for Brady to throw to, along with a healthy group of running backs led by LeGarrette Blount.
Patriots win big 35-3
Sunday
Packers vs Cowboys 4:35 pm FOX
Another game with two hot teams coming in, but the Packers happen to have the hottest quarterback in the league right now. Their offense is clicking, whenever anyone seems to write them off in seasons or in the middle of games, Aaron Rodgers shuts them up and makes big play and big throw after another. The Cowboys hold the NFC’s number one seed, and the home field advantage could be a factor, but this game is going to come down to how well the Packers control the Cowboys running game with Ezekial Elliot.
Packers keep it going 28-27
Steelers vs Chiefs 8:20 pm NBC
The Steelers and Chiefs are two hot teams, the Steelers winning their past eight games and the Chiefs winning nine of their past 11 but they will have to wait until night to kickoff. The ice storm in the midwest forced the NFL to switch their start time from 1 until 8:20 to allow the roads to be cleared for fans. The Steelers offensive weapons of Bell, Brown, and Big Ben (if healthy) are one of the most dynamic and hard to stop offense when clicking, like they were last week against the Dolphins. The Chiefs have played great all season and Alex Smith is playing at a high level with rookie star Tyreek Hill and tight end Travis Kelce as their main weapons. This game is going to be decided by who wins the turnover battle.
Steelers win a close one 24-20
