Former Band Director Investigated by Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office
The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office opened an investigation surrounding former band director Brian Damron’s time at Dominion. Damron was at Dominion from July 2012 to January 2015, when he left for “personal reasons.” The Sheriff’s Office directed our inquiry to Wayde Byard, the Public Information Officer for LCPS. LCPS released a public statement in which a 2014 reported incident about Damron was referred at the time to the Sheriff’s Office. Charges were not filed at the time due to the “incident taking place in another jurisdiction.” Upon further inquiries about the investigation and Damron’s time at LCPS he could provide no further comment but said LCPS and the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department are working together.
On November 1, 2016 Damron resigned from his latest job at Stanton College Preparatory School amid allegations of sexual and unprofessional misconduct. Investigations conducted in Duval County, Florida, revealed that Damron had told two people who worked with the band that he had a relationship with a former student who had returned as a “band tech.” Comments on that article and information in the Loudoun Times article reference issues with Damron’s time at Dominion. Allegations in the comments section from the Jacksonville.com article are unsubstantiated at this time.
