Club Spotlight: Future Medical Leaders Association
One club new to Dominion last year was the Future Medical Leaders Association. Designed “for students who want to pursue [careers] in the medicine and health industry, [including pharmacy], nursing, physical therapists or doctors,” the club tries to encourage students to pursue health-related work after graduation.
The club “[tries] to meet weekly, but on average 1 to 3 times a month,” said Mrs. Cox, the club sponsor. In the club students “research different jobs and look for things like what would they need to do to get into college for the fields, what classes would they need to take, how to prepare for these programs, some other thing talk about volunteer opportunities at the hospitals, they have practiced putting in stooges.”
To join, “[students should] contact me or they can contact one of the officers.” says Mrs. Cox. “At the first meeting we had 20 people.” People should join because, “It’s a great way to meet new people.”
