Junior-Senior Tension during Spirit Week
If you were at Dominion at all during spirit week you have felt the tension between the junior and senior classes. The tension actually started the week before spirit week when Powderpuff practices were in full swing, and so was smack talk.
There is a difference however between smack talk and over 400 comments on an Instagram photo. The Instagram photo was posted by a senior and got the ridiculous amount of comments that turned ugly quickly.
The fights did not end there however. The day after the Powderpuff game, many juniors carried around paper cut outs of the letter L and were giving them out to seniors and chanting “L, L, L…” during the mini pep rally.
Wednesday night, the night before hallways went up, there was a lot of twitter fights as well but the real intensity came on Thursday during hallway day. The seniors’ hallway theme was America which is probably the easiest hallway to have but they are seniors and they deserve an easy theme. The juniors however had China and there were maybe 10-15 juniors dressed up in their hallway gear while almost all seniors were decked out in American spirit.
This of course prompted the seniors to make fun of the juniors even more and the juniors to retaliate more. The mini pep rally was again filled with “L” chants but the seniors also chanted “hallways” back at them. Then the same thing happened again at the big pep rally on Friday afternoon where the juniors were also announced as last place for hallways and the seniors as first.
With all of the fights between juniors and seniors one would think the juniors would be even a little upset about their last place finish but they jumped for joy as if they had just won gold in the Olympics. This Olympic feeling did not show much after that however and it all came back to the Instagram comments. The ridiculous comments started back up and actually got to a point where people were talking to each other and not even speaking about the powderpuff game or the picture at all.
The last few comments didn’t even have anything to do with Dominion at all but if you need a $40 bike that “rides good” or just a good comment thread to laugh at, pull up the Instagram app and search up @emeliemcelroy55.
If you want a classic junior vs. senior rivalry then come to Dominion and ask for an L from the seniors; they would be happy to offer up one of theirs, I’m sure.
