College Football Preview: Week 5

What Happened Last Week

  • Michigan won a defensive battle against Wisconsin 14-7
  • Tennessee won a thriller on a Hail Mary against Georgia
  • Clemson defeated Louisville in a shootout, Lamar Jackson still Heisman favorite with his performance

#25 Virginia Tech vs #17 North Carolina 3:30 pm ABC

This ACC matchup is going to be one of the best of the day, high offensive power, little defense, and two teams that have played great heading in; North Carolina coming off a last second field goal victory over Florida State and Virginia Tech having won all of their games since the tough loss against Tennessee earlier in the year.

UNC pulls one out 49-40

#9 Tennessee vs #8 Texas A&M 3:30 pm CBS

As I have written about Tennessee many times over the first six weeks, they’ve showed consistently that they have a unique ability to look like one team the first half, and flip the script and win by a lot, a little, or even miraculously like with the Hail Mary against Georgia. Although Texas A&M is good and may be the better team, I don’t think Tennessee’s luck will stop here, as their schedule full of big games continues.

28-25 Tennessee

#1 Alabama vs #16 Arkansas 7:00 pm ESPN

A top 20 SEC battle in what’s going to be a crazy environment to close the college football Saturday is all anyone could ask for. Alabama is coming in with one of the best defenses in the country, and Arkansas has a great rushing attack and offense. Alabama is undefeated and Arkansas only has one loss so everyone will be able to see how good Alabama actually is if there were any doubts before.

Alabama barely wins 27-24
